Emerging author Michele Cardneaux is set to release her debut children's book, Will My Kitty Be In Heaven?, a heartfelt story addressing grief in young children.

Focusing on the concept of grief faced by children, she put together this beautiful children’s story. She hopes to provide emotional support to young readers and help parents navigate sensitive conversations about grief.
Michele’s childhood was filled with days playing with poodles and kittens. This was something that Michele loved as she got to be with these adorable furry buddies, who became her companions. She would care for the kitten like her child. Unfortunately, the kitten was sold off and Michele could not accept it. She used to cry and question why the kitten had to go. She was, unknowingly, grieving and did not receive the emotional support she needed from her mother.
Her emotions were dismissed with her mother’s harsh words, "Get over it and get ready for school." She felt alone at a time when she needed someone to listen to her and answer the many questions that were filling her mind. This incident turned her into an adult with suppressed emotions and insecurities. However, Michele worked through her emotions and finally decided not to follow in her mother’s footsteps. She decided to be there for her own daughter in every way possible, especially offering emotional support and comfort, when her cat, Gatsby, passed.
Will My Kitty Be In Heaven? is a story about a girl who lost her cat, a depiction of what she and her daughter went through in their childhood. The book is a guide for parents, an inspiration, teaching them a very important lesson: never neglect a child’s emotions and feelings, answer all the questions they have in their minds, and discuss sensitive topics such as the grief of losing someone or something they love.
Invalidating a child’s emotions only leads them to an unstable mental state, which negatively impacts their lives as adults. This book comes as a hope for every person who became a victim of childhood trauma, that they can become better individuals if only they could embrace their emotions and give up any practices that pushed them into that traumatic situation as a child. This book teaches them the art of turning their childhood trauma into something beautiful for their little ones.

Michele Cardneaux has always had a special bond with animals, thanks to her mother, who raised and sold poodles, cats, and other pets. Growing up surrounded by animals, Michele developed a deep love for them.
When she became a mother, she passed that love on to her daughter, Catherine, and together they cared for their cat, Gatsby. Losing Gatsby in 2022 was a devastating experience for both of them. Seeing her daughter go through so much emotional pain, Michele decided to turn their experience into a heartfelt story, and Will My Kitty Be In Heaven? was born.
