Michael T. Gibson, P.A. Awards College Scholarships to Central Florida's Top Student Athletes
Central Florida's Top High School Seniors Awarded for their Academic and Athletic Accomplishments and involvement in the Community.

Student athletes John Torrey of Forest High School, James Michael Reutt of Edgewood Junior-Senior High School and Jennifer Nazzaro of West Orange High School each received a $2,000 scholarship check from the law firm of Michael T. Gibson, P.A.
"My firm and I started this scholarship program to honor high school seniors for their accomplishments in the classroom, on the playing field and in the community." said attorney Michael T. Gibson. "These graduates have maintained exceptional grades, excelled in athletics and strengthened their communities through volunteer work and community service, some of them overcoming insurmountable obstacles. They are exemplary individuals and live by the same ideals and core values our firm stands for and believes in."
John Torrey graduated with high honors from Forest High School in Ocala, Marion County, Florida. He maintained a 4.3 GPA excelling in the school's Engineering program, EMIT. He took his first SAT at the age of 12 and was recognized for his outstanding scores in Duke University's Talent Program. While at Forest High School, John lettered in cross country and tennis and was a member of the school's National Honor Society. In addition, he was the recipient of the school's Principal Award and the Varsity Athletic Award. He has devoted 300 hours to serving his community and volunteers at Teens against Cancer, an organization dedicated to making a difference in the lives of pediatric cancer patients. He has been accepted to the Aeronautical Engineering program at the University of Florida. John turned tragedy into triumph, after suffering a heat stroke that had a negative effect on his heart rate, with no known cure.
James Michael Reutt graduated with a 3.88 GPA, taking Honors and AP courses, from Edgewood Junior-Senior High School in Merritt Island, Florida. His most recent ACT score reflects a 27 composite and his academic areas of interest, which are Science and Math. Michael is consistently ranked by his Edgewood teachers as being in the top percent of his class in the areas of leadership, motivation, personal initiative and work ethic. He is a 4-year member of the basketball team and is the Varsity Team Captain. He is also the Student Government Basketball Ambassador. In addition to his academic and athletic achievements, Michael actively volunteers helping coach the Edgewood middle school basketball team and local youth football teams. He has completed more than 260 hours of community service in his high school career and is an entrepreneur, who has recently started his own business making custom socks.
Jennifer Nazzaro graduated with a 3.97 GPA from West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Florida. She made the honor roll every semester and is a member of the National Honor Society and Interact Club. Freshman year she was captain of her school's JV lacrosse team and her junior and senior year she was captain of the Varsity lacrosse team. While not on the playing field or in the classroom, Jennifer volunteers her time at Health Central Park nursing home and Windermere Little League. She plans on playing lacrosse at the University of North Florida in the fall.
The Michael T. Gibson Scholar Athlete of the Month program recognizes Central Florida's top high school seniors who have excelled in academics, athletics and are actively involved in their community. The Scholar Athlete program highlights the achievements of one male and one female student athlete each month. At the end of the school year, winners are awarded a $2,000 scholarship check.
