Internet pop culture icon, Michael Buckley will discuss his career on SPARQ1 with Audrey King Weisiger on the Voice America Radio network.
- Phoenix-Mesa, AZ (1888PressRelease) November 15, 2012 - Voice America Radio Network, Internet broadcasting pioneer, producing and syndicating online audio and video, today announced that global You Tube star, Michael Buckley, will join Audrey King Weisiger, host of SPARQ1 radio program on the Voice America Empowerment Channel (http://www.voiceamerica.com) Wednesday November 21, at 10 am Pacific Time.
Michael Buckley, whose You Tube channel, What the Buck?! has 1,000,000 fans will share how he gained world-wide notoriety and created a lucrative career by vlogging (video posting). He recently won the guest host spot on Live with Kelly Ripa, in a nationwide talent search contest the summer of 2012.
Michael Buckley began his media career with his friend, Kristin Tierney, on a local public access TV channel on a show they called, Table for Two. During one of the shows, he began a rant that quickly went viral on the internet and this fast paced style of delivery eventually became a video show on You Tube. His comedic observations about celebrities and pop culture have been described as "snarky". He produces three to four videos weekly. The shows are commentaries on a variety of subjects, and although most videos are humorous, there are videos that address the topics of bullying and other personal issues, such as sexual identity and addictions. He has over 600,000 followers on Twitter and is frequently asked to perform as Master of Ceremonies for galas and benefit shows. The New York Times published an article about Michael Buckley where he discussed his internet entrepreneurship, which will be a topic on the SPARQ1 episode. A fan of figure skating, Michael Buckley has featured Olympic skaters in some of his video posts. In the summer of 2012, he attended the Grassroots to Champions Super Camp, which was held in Lake Placid, NY, where he participated in the training sessions and was the MC for the Young Artists Showcase Finals.
Michael Buckley is openly gay and he and his spouse, Michael Donegan, reside in Connecticut. He had laser surgery to correct his vision, but continues to wear eyeglasses to maintain his recognized personality.
