MICAVAANI Launches New Programming Season on the Auspicious Occasion of Eid
MICAVAANI, the community radio station of Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA) launched their new programming season on 9th August 2013.
- (1888PressRelease) August 13, 2013 - As a part of the grand launch, MICAVAANI ki Toli, a group of 16 MICANs went to the four villages of Ghuma, Telav, Shela and Kaneti that fall under the 7 km. radius that the radio station covers.
Accompanying the toil were dholvaalas who drew a lot of attention with their vigorous drum beats. It added to the already festive atmosphere of Eid and people joined in the dance and singing. The team members also sung the signature MICAVAANI jingle to increase recall among listeners. Loyal listeners came forward to share their experiences of the shows and visiting the MICAVAANI studio in the past.
Starting 9th August 2013, the radio station will be on air Monday - Saturday from 8 - 10 p.m. The extensively popular request hour is being resumed on public demand, as are other popular shows like Kahaani Poori Filmy Hai (Bollywood-based), Naani Vaani (short stories), Des Vides (travel show for countries across the world), etc.

Background
MICAVAANI aired its first show on 14th November 2005. The overarching aim of the committee is to serve the community by striving to improve the quality of life of the listeners. Over these seven years, MICAVAANI has developed meaningful content covering areas like health and nutrition, travel, moral-based stories, radio dramas, films, books, poetry, etc. All our efforts have placed radio at the centre to help listeners' overall development.
Future Plans
This year, MICAVAANI intends to add several new shows to its programming bouquet based on the needs and demands of its target listeners. The time of broadcast will also be increased to six hours divided in three slots - morning, afternoon and night. For the purpose of gauging its audience and understanding their lifestyle, MICAVAANI will also undertake a comprehensive Baseline Survey in September-October. The findings of this research will be used to design new shows that its listeners will enjoy.
