MICA Advances to Regional Finals of 4th Annual Hult Prize in Response to President Bill Clinton's Food Poverty Challenge

(1888PressRelease) February 20, 2013 - The Hult Prize recently announced that Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA) has advanced to the regional finals of the 4th Annual Hult Prize to be held in Dubai on the 1st and 2nd of March 2013. The Hult Prize is the world's largest student competition and crowdsourcing platform for social good, recently named one of the top five ideas changing the world by President Bill Clinton and TIME Magazine. In partnership with the Clinton Global Initiative, it launches disruptive and catalytic social ventures that aim to solve the planets most pressing challenges. The 2013 Hult Prize is themed around global food security and will focus on how to get safe, sufficient, affordable and easily accessible food to the 200 million people who live in urban slums.

"The Hult Prize is thrilled that MICA has joined the initiative," said Dr. Stephen Hodges, President of the Hult International Business School. "This year's competition has received a record number of entries, bringing together some of the most talented students to help solve global food security. Aditya Basole, team leader from MICA says, "This is a huge problem. Not only in India but around the world. We as a team would try to use our understanding of the Indian context and try to extrapolate the solution on a Global level."

MICA's team members include Aditya Basole (Nagpur), Aishwarya Padmanabhan (Delhi), Ambuj Saxena (Delhi), Abhishek Mandloi (Indore), and Priyanka Shah (Mumbai). They are all final year business and communications management students, with a varied educational and cultural background.

Student teams compete in five cities around the world, Boston, San Francisco, London, Dubai and Shanghai for a chance to secure USD 1 million in start-up funding to launch a sustainable social venture. MICA will compete in Dubai.
