Miami's Performing Arts Center Trust Board of Directors Elects Alan Fein Chair-Elect and Welcomes Five New Members
Adrienne Arsht Center PACT Board of Directors Elects Alan Fein Chair-Elect, welcomes five new members: Pierre Apollon, Armando Bucelo, Jr, Michelle Spence-Jones, Alexander Tachmes and Gilberto Neves and also reappoints Sergio M. Gonzalez, Carole Ann Taylor, Felix Garcia, and Adriana Sabino.
- Miami, FL (1888PressRelease) February 24, 2012 - The Performing Arts Center Trust board of directors has plotted the next chapter of leadership by electing Miami attorney Alan Fein as Chair-Elect. The Performing Arts Center Trust is comprised of business, civic and philanthropic leaders who oversee management of the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County.
The Trust has also welcomed five new members to its Board of Directors: Pierre Apollon, Armando Bucelo Jr., Miami Commissioner Michelle Spence-Jones, Alexander Tachmes, and Gilberto Neves.
"The volunteer leadership of our strong and engaged board has been a pillar of the Adrienne Arsht Center's success through its first five years," said Mike Eidson, Chairman of the Performing Arts Center Trust Board of Directors. "Our newest members will help us continue providing an important connection with the Miami community, supporting our evolving mission as a world-class performing arts center. I look forward to working with my fellow board members and Chair-Elect Alan Fein as we help shape the future of Miami's cultural landscape."
•Alan Fein is a Shareholder in the litigation department and a member of Stearns Weaver Miller Weissler Alhadeff and Sitterson, PA. Board of Directors. He focuses his practice on complex civil litigation, professional sports representations and litigation, defamation and libel law. He has served as Assistant to the White House Domestic Policy Staff and Aide to the Special Assistant to President Carter for Government Representatives. Mr. Fein also served as Legislative Assistant to the Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives. He was the founding chair of Miami's Arts & Business Council, City Theatre and the Colony Theatre. Fein was also the former chair of the Miami-Dade County Cultural Affairs Council and his been a member of the Adrienne Arsht Center PACT Board since 2008. Mr. Fein received his Bachelors of Science degree from Wharton School of Finance and Commerce and his Juris Doctorate degree from Georgetown University.
•Pierre Apollon is the VP of Business Development for K.L. McCaul Construction. He is a former board member for the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless and the Community Foundation of Pinecrest. Mr. Apollon earned a bachelor's degree in Civil and Architectural Engineering from the University of Miami and a MBA from Northwestern University.
•Armando Bucelo, Jr. is the principal attorney for the law offices of Armando J. Bucelo, Jr. For more than 20 years, he served as Special Counsel to the Code Enforcement Board of the City of Miami, as well as Special Advisor to the City of Miami, Under former President George W. Bush, he was the first Hispanic and first Floridian selected as a member of the Board of the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation. He has served as Trustee of Miami Dade College for the past 14 years. He was appointed a member of the Board of Directors of the National CORE. In 2002, he was appointed by President George W. Bush as Chairman of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC). Mr. Bucelo earned Juris Doctorate and Bachelor of Arts degrees at University of Miami.
•Michelle Spence-Jones serves as the Commissioner for Miami's 5th District and as Chair of the Southeast Overtown/Park West & Omni Redevelopment District CRAs. She is also a member of the City of Miami Commercial Solid Waste Management advisory committee and the Miami-Dade County Tourist Development Council. Commissioner Spence-Jones graduated from North Miami High School and attended Tallahassee Community College.
•Alexander Tachmes is a partner at law firm Shutts & Bowen in Miami, where he specializes in governmental and real estate matters. Mr. Tachmes is a former First Assistant City Attorney for Miami Beach, where he concentrated on public-private real estate development. He served as counsel to the City in connection with the Lowes Miami Beach and Royal Palm Crown Plaza hotel projects. Mr. Tachmes graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree Phi Beta Kappa from University of Miami and later graduated cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law.
•Gilberto Neves is President and CEO of Odebrecht USA. He has played a key role in the company's expansion as one of the leading engineering and construction firms in the Southeast United States. He supervised the completion of the Arsht Center and the expansion of the Miami International Airport's North Terminal. Neves has been involved with the YMCA of Greater Miami for several years, and has recently served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors. Mr.Neves also sits on the board of the Florida International University Center of Leadership. He graduated from Kennedy Engineering School in Belo Horizonte, Brazil and holds a degree in Civil Engineering.
•The Board of County Commissioners reappointed Sergio M. Gonzalez, Carole Ann Taylor, Felix Garcia and Adriana Sabino on November 15, 2011 for a term of three years. Mr. Gonzalez and Ms. Sabino have been board members since April 2008; Ms. Taylor is entering her twelfth year of service; and Mr. Garcia is beginning his sixth year.
