Details: On February 23, 2013 The Jonathan Spikes Foundation will present a staged reading of the new play "I Know What I AM and I AM NOT What You Call ME," a psychological thriller that traces the often painful coming-of-age journey of a young African-American boy. The reading is sponsored by the Adrienne Arsht Center and will take place at the Peacock Education Center in Miami.
The autobiographical play written by Miami Native son Jonathan Spikes, addresses the difficult subject of childhood sexual abuse. Spikes says even though statistics show as many as one in four girls and one in six boys will be sexually abused at some point in their childhood, this familiar, yet taboo topic, is still very difficult to discuss in an open forum. Free event, donations are encouraged. Proceeds benefit the non-profit Jonathan Spikes Foundation.
