Miami Marlins to Host Gift of Life Marrow Drive to Save Lives
Diversity in the worldwide marrow registry is urgently needed.
- (1888PressRelease) July 15, 2017 - Cancer is a random killer. It can strike any one of us at any time. Join the Miami Marlins as they host a recruitment drive to register potential bone marrow donors to benefit children and adults suffering from diseases like leukemia and lymphoma whom are in dire need of a transplant.
The drive, held on behalf of Gift of Life Marrow Registry, will be on July 17, 2017 at Marlins Park, 501 Marlins Way, Miami, FL 33135 from 1-4:00 pm when the Marlins will take on the Dodgers.
There is an urgent need to increase diversity in the registries: 55% of Latinos, 75% of African Americans and 75% of multi-racial individuals cannot find a donor.
Everyone is encouraged to participate in the drive. It’s fast, painless and all information is confidential. If you are between the ages of 18 and 45 and in general good health, you are eligible to be screened and join the worldwide registry for patients in need. A simple swab from the inside of your cheek is all it takes to determine if you are a match.
There is no cost for a volunteer to join and all information is kept confidential.
