MGM Resorts Foundation Awards $12,250 To Spread The Word Nevada Supports Breakfast With Books Program In Local Elementary Schools
Spread the Word Nevada's Breakfast with Books program continues to provide family literacy program, books, and breakfast snacks to twenty-one Clark County elementary schools. The program serves low-income and disadvantaged youth in Southern Nevada.
- Las Vegas, NV-AZ (1888PressRelease) August 04, 2010 - Spread the Word Nevada, a local non-profit, children's literacy program is the recipient of a $12,250 grant from the MGM Resorts Foundation. The grant will assist the Breakfast with Books program at the twenty-one elementary schools in the Clark County School District adopted by the organization.
The Breakfast with Books program is a family literacy event created to encourage reading and increase literacy. Once a month, students and family members from each adopted school attend an assembly for a book reading and discussion, which includes a free breakfast snack and book distribution. Last year, 127 Breakfast with Books programs were held with a total of 18,317 attendees.
MGM Resorts Foundation has been a Spread the Word Nevada supporter since 2005. "Community partners like MGM Resorts Foundation have been the cornerstone of Spread the Word Nevada's success," stated Lisa Habighorst, Executive Director, of Spread the Word Nevada. "The generosity of their employees and their support of our services will help us continue the family literacy outreach through Breakfast with Books and bring more books into the homes of the families we have the honor of serving."
