Metropolitan Lincoln Mercury of Garden City has set up a Facebook page - www.Facebook.com/MetropolitanDealership - for these personal Lincoln or Mercury experiences.
"Here at Metropolitan, we hear so many great stories from our customers about how much they love their Lincoln and Mercury vehicles," said Clarity Patton, manager at Metropolitan Lincoln Mercury in Garden City. "We wanted to create a fun place for Lincoln and Mercury fans to share their memory with the world and with other people who love these great American brands."
Drivers writing on the Facebook page have reminisced about the first car they purchased or momentous occasions related to their special vehicle. A father told of bringing his new baby home from hospital in his 1972 Mercury Montego.
The 1939 Mercury 8 was the first in the brand to take to the roads and highways. More than 65,800 Mercury 8 automobiles were sold, with a sticker price of $916. At the time, typical vehicles cost $700 and gas was $0.10 per gallon.
The Lincoln brand will continue. Ford Motor Company plans to produce seven new or fully redesigned Lincolns within the next four years.
