The live webcast will examine how health plans can derive the maximum value from their compliance programs.
- (1888PressRelease) June 09, 2011 - Palo Alto, California: MetricStream Inc., the market leader in Enterprise Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) solutions, announced today that Judith Nelson, Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer of BlueCross BlueShield (BCBS) of Tennessee, will feature in a webinar, entitled 'Best Practices in Implementing a Compliance Program' on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 10 am Pacific.
About the webinar
Confronted with increasing regulatory scrutiny and rising stakeholder expectations, health insurance companies are striving to implement risk-resilient and compliance-centric GRC programs. Operational efficiency is critical, even as risks become more intertwined and compliance regulations increase in number and complexity. Today, the average health plan has to navigate not only industry-specific compliance mandates such as HIPAA and NAIC Model Audit Rule, but also cross-industry regulations such as SOX and PCI-DSS, in addition to regional regulations and internal policies. They have to stay updated on regulatory changes, integrate external mandates with internal policies, monitor controls regularly and resolve issues as soon as they occur.
Managing these regulations and responsibilities is challenging, even as the competition grows fiercer, customer demands increase, and operations become more complex. However, numerous health insurance organizations, including BCBS companies, are experiencing significant benefits from integrated and sustainable compliance programs.
Technology plays an integral role in such programs. Not only does it automate compliance workflows, but it also streamlines and integrates GRC programs across the enterprise.
Participants at the webinar will receive further insights into the importance of technology, as well as other best practices and strategies for the effective management of compliance, risks and audits. The speakers will provide perspectives on:
Challenges facing the healthcare industry from a risk, compliance and audit perspective
Best practices for addressing these challenges
The role of technology in adopting and implementing an effective compliance program
Case studies highlighting how select BCBS affiliates architected their compliance program
The webcast will be hosted by MetricStream and will feature Judith Nelson who is currently the Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee (BCBST). Her responsibilities include guiding and directing the enterprise-wide compliance program, the Chief Security Officer and the Provider Audit and Enterprise Investigative Services supporting the corporation. The compliance program, coupled with the Code of Conduct and related policies, sets an ethical tone for conducting business, and creates a corporate culture that strengthens the reputation of BCBST. An integral program goal is to integrate compliance with management accountabilities and day-to-day business operations.
Judith has twenty-plus years of experience in the health insurance industry, and has been with BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee since 1990. Her previous responsibilities include health data analysis, utilization and quality management, and provider contracting along with significant project management activities.
