MEOW Now joins Give Day Tampa Bay and urges area residents to give locally on May 3, 2016
MEOW Now is proud to be participating in the third annual Give Day Tampa Bay on May 3, 2016, and we are encouraging residents to donate to our efforts to humanely manage and end the overpopulation of community cats in Pinellas County by providing TNVR (Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return).
- Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL (1888PressRelease) April 29, 2016 - Give Day Tampa Bay is a 24-hour, online giving event, designed to increase philanthropy in the Tampa Bay area and raise awareness of the amazing work local nonprofits do in this community. This is the third year that the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay has sponsored this event, which raised $1.75 million for 550 Tampa Bay area nonprofits last year.
Donations can help MEOW Now and Pinellas County citizens in many ways. TNVR protects public health, as free-roaming community cats are vaccinated against rabies. It can reduce taxpayer expense by decreasing shelter intake and euthanasia, along with expenditure of county employees' time. It reduces nuisance behaviors from cats such as yowling for a mate, hunting, territorial spraying and fighting. It's a win-win for the cats and their communities!
In addition to raising awareness of the participating nonprofits, Give Day Tampa Bay offers cash prizes to the participants with the most donations, another reason to give on May 3.
"We are excited to participate in our first Give Day Tampa Bay because we have heard from numerous nonprofits about how beneficial it was to them and their fundraising efforts," said MEOW Now Executive Director, Chad Thompson. "We hope to raise at least $5,000 with the help of our match, which will assist us tremendously in our work. It would also be great to win one of the many cash prizes in the prize pool!"
To increase awareness of MEOW Now, we are doing social promotions and community outreach, as well as offering a limited time donation match. We will also be offering a limited number of giveaways and social and website mentions to all donors.
