Mega Fest 'One India' mirrored LPU as truly India
•LPU Students from each nook & corner of India and 30 countries worked together to prove the celebration grand in form and aim.
- (1888PressRelease) March 28, 2015 - Huge assemblage and enthralling showcasing of beats, chants, dances, stalls, heritage and other peculiarities of all the 29 states of India at Lovely Professional University reflected the entire campus as a true representation of India. Occasion was the conclusive day of 6th annual national fest of the university 'One India' which is held to let diverse student community feel the fervor of unity by all means.
The day witnessed great fusion of varied cultural shows and expo. 20,000 LPU Students from all Indian states displayed cultural heritage of different states in unison, irrespective of their own states. The theme of the year was women empowerment as 'Maa Tujhe Salaam'. Different student-groups had worked together day & night to highlight the important inheritance of the respective state they represented.
Highlighting factor of the celebration was that an Andhra Pradesh student was spokesperson at Punjab stall, a Haryana student at Kerala, a Manipur student at that of Odisha and so on. The students availed a broadened opportunity to celebrate and pay respect to one- another's rich culture. Going in accordance to the theme of the year, each stall displayed the stories of successes and sacrifices made by illustrious women of the state it depicted.
It was surprising and applauding that a Kashmiri student Hooda Ajaz from School of Business explained all about Odisha, its great women, festivals, temples, filigree & decorative works. B Tech student Shubhanjali from Himachal Pradesh was very happy to tell about the new Indian state Telengana. She told all about important women of the state including Rudrammadevi, Ailamma, Sania Mirza and more. Similarly, B Sc Agriculture student Shatarupa of Assam told about Tripura state. Different stalls exhibited culture, monuments, festivals, dresses, ornaments, demons, deities, natural products, eatables and other peculiarities.
In the evening, famous folk dances of 29 states were also performed. The performances for the famous dances of different states under program 'Jhoomo re' included Bharatnatyam, Bihu, Kaal-Belia, Jhoomar, Odishi, Mohiniattam, Lavani, Chhau, Naati, Ghoomer, Domni, Sammi amid the melodies of different states. Bathakuma and Bonalu dances of the new state Telengana were highly appreciated by all. International students, who are studying at LPU from 30 countries, were seen happy to see the whole of India at the campus in just two days.
All of them marked the fest as an informative and mega celebrative event. B Design student Fu Jia Qi from China, M Tech student Yama from Afghanistan, ELP student Pagma from Mongolia, BBA student Azraa from Sri Lanka, B Arch student Sumenga from Bhutanand more are in unison to say that "One India" celebration has given them all elaborated insight into the great strength and culture of India.
While declaring the celebration close, Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal honoured the students and departments with prizes and certificates for their massive participation in exposition of oneness. Addressing Chancellor Mittal said: "We all are fortunate enough to be born and brought up in the great culture of India. In comparison to developed country particularly the USA, India is a great land with abundant and equal opportunities for men and women. In just 22 years of its independence, India gave a woman Prime Minister to the country; whereas, the USA has not given its people a single woman President in spite of being top country of the world."
Adding Mr Mittal said: "We are happy to see that this year the theme remained in relation to women empowerment. It has also been amazing to observe students from different states working closely to represent unity in diversity in actuality. This joint celebration of oneness proves that LPU students are in right direction of being future leaders".
