- Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL (1888PressRelease) February 03, 2011 - Meet a Scientologist (http://www.scientology.org): The Adrienne Burton story where Burton talks about the promise life holds is now featured on the new Scientology Video Channel along with over 200 other profiles.
In a video featured on the new Scientology Video Channel Burton shares her views on helping others and the adventure of creating her own future.
The Dallas native, who has lived in Clearwater, Florida, for the past 12 years, says what's important to her is friends, family, personal integrity, helping people and having fun.
Fun includes learning a new language or musical instrument, watching Project Runway or Seinfeld reruns, flying off to Paris, Los Angeles or New York City on the spur of the moment or just hanging out at home with friends.
But there is one thing Burton loves above everything else. "When I'm helping people I feel best," she says. "It's like a surge or an adrenaline rush-it's a really cool feeling."
Burton's parents, both Scientologists, raised their daughter, an only child, using Scientology principles. But Burton says becoming a Scientologist was not a foregone conclusion.
"When I was old enough to realize what it was, that's when I actually became a Scientologist myself," says Burton. "You aren't automatically a Scientologist by accident of birth. Scientology is something you have to learn and use. It's a religion but also a technology, a philosophy, a guideline for life."
Burton, 26, who works in online web PR, gained an understanding of her own abilities through Scientology and the writings of L. Ron Hubbard. "It's given me the power to be aware of more things, to realize that I'm capable of so much more than I ever thought," she says. "I can speak my mind, and I'm willing to confront things. I just feel like I can do anything."
Burton says she is proud to be a Scientologist. "It's the foundation for everything else I do in life. It's like this rock-steady thing.
