PharmaVOICE 100, a top publication of the pharmaceutical industry, has announced their prestigious list of honorees for 2013, which includes a leader in nutraceutical research and technology. Dr. Jay Udani, CEO of Medicus Research, is renowned internationally for his innovative research studies on natural health products.
- Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) August 26, 2013 - Jay Udani, M.D., renowned for his groundbreaking clinical research in the natural health products industry, has earned a prominent recognition in the pharmaceutical arena with his inclusion in the prestigious 2013 PharmaVOICE 100 list.
As founder, CEO and medical director of the global CRO Medicus Research, headquartered in Los Angeles, California, Dr. Udani has pioneered inventive clinical research approaches for nutraceuticals, including dietary supplements, botanical drugs and functional foods.
The PharmaVOICE 100 is an annual list of life-science professionals recognized for their outstanding contributions to the industry. This honor recognizes Dr. Udani for his innovation in clinical research and healthcare technology.
In its listing of Dr. Udani as "one of the 100 most inspiring people in the Life-Sciences Industry," the publication spotlights his assertion that there is a dramatic shift toward self-care, where individuals are taking more responsibility for their own health, often turning to dietary supplements, and credits Dr. Udani for being instrumental in providing evidence for the efficacy and use of natural products.
Taren Grom, editor of PharmaVOICE, stated that this recognition is based on how Dr. Udani has inspired and motivated those around him, and his influence as a corporate leader, being someone who is having a positive impact on the industry through his actions.
Now in its ninth year, the PharmaVOICE 100 honorees are nominated by thousands of the publication's readers. This year's selected 100 showcases "some of the most inspiring, motivating, and outstanding leaders in the life-sciences industry," according to PharmaVOICE. "These individuals illustrate what it means to think bigger, do more, and lead with passion and integrity."
Industry insiders have reported that the suite of automation tools envisioned by the Medicus Research leader (including EduConsent™, eCompliance and Wellness Apps), combined with his expertise in clinical research, have had industrywide implications. Dr. Udani realized early on that automation could greatly improve efficiency in clinical trials, so he built the tools needed to meet this goal.
Remarkably, Jay Udani has been conducting clinical trials since the young age of 16, when he ran his first in the neonatology unit of a hospital in Chicago. He has since been one of the first physicians in America to become a Certified Physician Investigator (C.P.I.) for clinical trials, written more than 40 articles and textbook chapters in the field, and successfully founded two companies, Medicus Research and SysteMedicus.
Medicus Research has completed more than 125 clinical trials and performs all stages of the trial, from design and implementation to results and statistical analysis. Increased pressure from the FDA and FTC for dietary supplements and other natural health products to substantiate claims, coupled with higher demand for natural health products, has provided the opportunity for Medicus Research to experience a tremendous stage of growth and success.
SysteMedicus, a health software development company, has created a suite of applications that has dramatically improved the efficiency of the pharmaceutical industry on multiple levels. These technologies are used to serve patients, physicians, contract research organizations, sponsors of clinical trials, manufacturers, and government regulating agencies.
"I'm honored to have been chosen to receive this recognition," Dr. Udani said. "I would like to thank PharmaVOICE for this award and I'd like to thank everyone at Medicus Research and SysteMedicus who are working toward our shared vision."
