Medicap Pharmacy Takes Further Steps to Enter Digital Space
A group of Central Iowa Medicap Pharmacy locations, owned by GRX Holdings, LLC, has taken further steps to make waves among younger consumers by implementing QR codes and a partnership with Dwolla.
- Des Moines, IA (1888PressRelease) December 01, 2011 - "It is no secret that our world is transitioning to the electronic/digital medium sooner rather than later. We want to accommodate all of our customers and be able to speak to everyone through the methods they use the most, as well as increasing convenience. This means connecting through QR codes, Dwolla, text messages, etc.", said Nicolle McClure, Vice President of Marketing.
Dwolla, a local Des Moines based company, is a smartphone application that allows a consumer to make a payment to a retailer without handing over cash or swiping a card. The consumer connects their bank account to Dwolla, and then you simply enter the company to send money to, and like magic, the money transfers.
"One thing we found that's been resonating as of late is our emphasis on privacy and security. With Dwolla, our transactions are devoid of the financial information typically susceptible to identity fraud. Also, we offer a new philosophy on privacy control, wherein that our users can control numerous aspects of his or her account that were never before possible," said a representative of Dwolla.
QR codes are also being implemented into marketing campaigns. A QR Code is a barcode-like image that can be scanned by the cameras on smartphones. Once scanned, the user is automatically taken to a website, video, coupon - or anything else on the Internet.
In addition, text message campaigns and reminders are being used. Text message communication with consumers is becoming more and more popular among companies.
"Upwards of 80-90% of Americans regularly use text messages, so it only makes sense to use that tool as another way to make sure our customers stay happy, and make sure we stay relevant and top-of-mind to them," said McClure. "We're not the same pharmacy your parents and grandparents grew up with!"
