- (1888PressRelease) May 31, 2014 - NEW YORK - Steven Blumenthal, CPA, a principal in the Tax and Accounting Department at nationally recognized public accounting firm MBAF, has been elected Chair of the Bergen County Workforce Investment Board (WIB) for a two-year term starting July 1, 2014. Currently the Bergen County WIB Secretary-Treasurer, Blumenthal was elected at the organization's quarterly board meeting in Hackensack, N.J.
The Bergen County WIB is dedicated to supporting workforce and economic development by connecting Bergen County residents to jobs and ensuring that employers have the skilled workers they need. The organization oversees the Bergen One-Stop Career Center and acts as a liaison between the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development (LWD) and local businesses, connecting them to education and training providers and other vital services, such as incentives and training grants, tax credits, and on-the-job training for workers.

In his position as Chair of the Bergen County WIB, Blumenthal will work with the organization's Executive Director and the Chairpersons of the Disabilities Committee, Literacy Committee, One-Stop Committee, Youth Investment Council Committee, the Development Committee and other Committees as deemed appropriate to best serve the Bergen County workforce and its employers. He will also work with the Executive Director and the Committees to review and update business plans and timelines on an as-needed basis.
Blumenthal has over 35 years of experience, specializing in corporate and partnership tax law; federal, state and local tax audits; restructuring and mergers and acquisitions; and compliance with clients in professional services firms, real estate and construction, retail, and wholesale/distribution.
He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and New Jersey State Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is the immediate past Vice Chairman of Finance and Business Operations at the Meadowlands Chamber of Commerce, where he currently serves as Treasurer, and is the immediate past Chairman of the Board of GreenFaith. Blumenthal is a past board member of Eastwick College.
