MBAF's Emilio Escandon named Managing Principal of New York Region
Emilio Escandon being named as Managing Principal of the New York region of nationally recognized accounting firm MBAF, effective July 1, 2017.
- (1888PressRelease) August 12, 2017 - MIAMI – Emilio Escandon, CPA, has been named Managing Principal of the New York region of nationally recognized accounting firm MBAF, effective July 1, 2017. The announcement was made by Tony Argiz, Chairman and CEO of MBAF.
As Managing Principal, Escandon will have full oversight of the operations of the firm’s New York offices, located in Manhattan and Valhalla. Escandon will also continue to serve as Principal-in-Charge of National Operations for MBAF’s Tax and Accounting Department. Ira Rubenstein, the previous managing principal of the New York offices, will continue to be actively involved in the firm’s leadership and client service, and will act as Chairman of MBAF’s Northeast practice.
“Since joining MBAF in 2005, Emilio has established himself as a respected member of our core leadership team,” said Argiz. “This achievement is a testament to Emilio’s dedication and business acumen, and I am certain that his leadership will allow for continued successes within the New York practice and firm overall.”
Escandon has been in practice since 1983, and has extensive experience in both public accounting and corporate tax practices. He has assisted clients in negotiating, structuring, and performing related due diligence for transactions having a deal value of over $6 billion and has represented selling shareholders in structuring transactions including, a $1.2 billion transaction for which the tax arbitration added $200 million and two separate transactions each totaling over $300 million. Escandon also assists public and private companies with diverse tax issues including tax and accounting methods, tax restructuring and treatment of stock options.
He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, New York Society of Certified Public Accountants and Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, where he was past chair of the Federal Taxation Committee. He is also past chair of CPA Today’s Editorial Committee, and is past chairman of Junior Achievement of Greater Miami. Escandon is a graduate of the University of Florida.
