MBAF CEO Tony Argiz Honored with 2019 Sand In My Shoes Award by the GMCC
The Sand In My Shoes Award is the GMCC’s most prestigious accolade. It recognizes outstanding community leaders who have made significant contributions to the South Florida region and demonstrate a deep love and commitment to Miami.
- (1888PressRelease) February 21, 2019 - MIAMI – Nationally recognized public accounting firm, MBAF, is pleased to announce that Tony Argiz, CEO and Chairman of MBAF, was honored with the Sand In My Shoes Award at the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce (GMCC) Award Gala at Jungle Island on February 13, 2019.
The Sand In My Shoes Award is the GMCC’s most prestigious accolade. It recognizes outstanding community leaders who have made significant contributions to the South Florida region and demonstrate a deep love and commitment to Miami. At the gala, Argiz was presented with a congressional proclamation on behalf of Rep. Donna Shalala as well as a proclamation from Mayor Carlos Giménez declaring February 13 as Antonio L. Argiz Day.
A devoted civic and community leader, Argiz has held leadership positions in several local organizations and has played a crucial role in their advancements and achievements. He served as chairman for the GMCC from 2014 to 2015, a record year for the organization in terms of revenue and profit. He chaired the United Way of Miami-Dade from 2007 to 2009 and guided the organization during the difficult economic recession years.
Additionally, Argiz has served as chairman of the Adrienne Arsht Center Foundation, Facts About Cuban Exiles (F.A.C.E.) and the Orange Bowl Committee, as well as on the board of the Beacon Council and the Perez Art Museum Miami.
Argiz has received numerous awards and recognitions for his business, community and philanthropic accomplishments including: Ultimate CEO from the South Florida Business Journal (SFBJ), the Distinguished Citizen Award from the Boy Scouts of America, Executive of the Year from the GMCC, Top 100 Power Leaders from SFBJ, the 2013 American Jewish Committee’s National Human Relations Award, the 2010 Miami Coalition for Christians and Jews’ Silver Medallion award, the South Florida Visionary Award from the Miami Herald and the 2011 Alexis de Tocqueville Society, the United Way of Miami-Dade’s top honor.
