Maybank-MoneyTree Young Entrepreneur Startup (YES) Challenge (Season 4) - Breakthrough 2 Session
15 Teams battled for survival against brutal scrutiny of judges with hopes to move on to the next stage of YES 4.
- (1888PressRelease) March 08, 2012 - Selangor - The Maybank MoneyTree Young Entrepreneur Startup (YES) 4 BreakThrough 2 Session was organized by MoneyTree last Saturday (3rd March 2012) at Lecture Theatre 20, Taylor's University (Lakeside Campus). 15 teams consisting of young budding entrepreneurs competed against each other in an intense battle for a chance to move on to the next stage of YES 4.
The YES teams were given 6 minutes to pitch their business ideas to a panel of judges consisting Industry experts and Captains of Industry. Each team would then have to defend their business ideas against the scrutiny of the judges during the Q & A session. Besides defending their business ideas, teams would also need to charm the audience as votes from them contribute to the teams' points as well. Only 10 teams will move on to the main Judging session which will take place on 17th March 2012.
There were also Lucky Draw prizes given out to the audience throughout the Breakthrough 2 event.
MoneyTree (M) CEO, Mr. Brandon Liew stated, "Our undergrads are definitely moving in the right direction. The quality of this year's business idea is better and teams appear to be more confident when pitching their ideas to us."
Among some of the judges who attended the YES 4 BreakThrough 2 Session were Mr Ahmad Razmy (Group MD Ikatan Arhaz Holdings), Mr. Anthony Umann (Silicon Valley startup veteran now based in Asia) and Ms Christy Lee (CEO of Techmaki).
The YES 4 BreakThrough 2 Session is participated by undergraduates from different Universities / Colleges around Malaysia, including Taylor's University, Sunway University, INTI, University Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Monash University, SEGi College, University of Nottingham, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) and Multimedia University (MMU).
The venue for the YES 4 BreakThrough 2 Session was sponsored by Taylor's University.

The Maybank MoneyTree YES challenge is a business challenge organized by MoneyTree to help Young, Vibrant Entrepreneur Aspirants launch their business ideas into the market and ultimately turn those ideas into profitable ventures. The challenge not only allows young Entrepreneurs / aspiring Entrepreneurs to learn skills that would sharpen their Entrepreneurial mindsets, but to also provide them with the opportunity to experience the practical applications of the Entrepreneurial skills they acquired through the MoneyTree Entrepreneur Fast Track program. Ultimately, YES teams who have proven their worth would be channelled to government pre-seed grants for full commercialization of their ideas.
