May 13-15: Robert Treat Hotel to Host The Newark Peace Education Summit Workshops
Event to Focus on Methods for Building Peace in Ourselves and Our Communities.
- Newark, NJ (1888PressRelease) May 04, 2011 - The Berger Organization's Best Western Robert Treat Hotel in Newark will serve as the site for more than two dozen workshops during The Newark Peace Education Summit, a three-day conference focusing on peacemaking practices from around the world and within Newark. Co-convened by Tibet House US and The Drew A. Katz Foundation, the event will take place Friday to Sunday, May 13 to 15.
The summit will be based at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC); it will feature panels and workshops with Nobel Laureates His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Shirin Ebadi and Jody Williams, and Newark Mayor Cory Booker, Somaly Mam, and peace advocates from a wide cross section of cultures, disciplines and perspectives. The event will explore the programs, policies and methods used by communities to establish peace; why and how they work; and how to replicate them in America and around the world.
