Maxtena Launches New GPS Helix Antenna Tuning Kit
Maxtena has designed and released a first ever GPS Helix Antenna Tuning Kit. The aim is to make embedded antenna configurations easier for hardware developers.
- Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV (1888PressRelease) October 31, 2013 - U.S. based Maxtena, a top developer and producer for innovative wireless solutions, have created the first GPS helix antenna tuning kit aimed at simplifying embedded antenna integrations.
Maxtena designed the tuning kit to empower hardware developers working on devices requiring an embedded antenna configuration. The tuning kit allows for both quick and easy antenna selection and removes the need for a lengthy and costly custom antenna integration process. The use of the tuning kit can drastically shorten the time to market of new products while guaranteeing a high performance GPS antenna.
The tuning kit contains five GPS helix antenna samples optimized for a range of different loading conditions commonly encountered in devices requiring an embedded antenna configuration.
"The introduction of the M1575HCT-22-P tuning kit is the result of years of experience and lessons learned in antenna integration and optimization. By leveraging the expertise embedded in the design of the Tuning Kit, Maxtena has made custom antenna integration as simple as choosing a capacitor value," said Dr. Carlo Di Nallo, CTO at Maxtena.
Since the effects of dielectric loading and printed circuit board edge proximity produces a downward shift of the center frequency, the antennas in the kit are tuned at incrementally higher frequencies than the nominal GPS L1 center frequency.
In order to select the suitable element in the kit, a customer should properly install the five antennas on the target device one by one to determine which provides the optimal performance.
The M1575HCT-22-P, the tuning kit helix antenna, is the smallest antenna in the Maxtena HeliCore® family and is unrivaled in the industry in performance, size, reliability and weight. The compact antenna weighs only 2 grams and measures 24.3 x 12.85 mm, and contains a 3-pin connector, which can either be soldered directly to a board or edge mounted using a female socket.
