Hailing from Australia, this illustrator and comic creator comes to spoon+fork with a wide range of expertise highlighted in his exemplary work. From seeing a gap in the comic book industry and filling it by creating his own, to documenting a Chinatown martial arts troupe for the Sydney Opera House, to working with various major publications and cultural institutions, Matt's powerful works and knack for storytelling through illustration will compliment spoon+fork's diverse portfolio giving their clients even more of a creative arsenal. It's needless to say the agency is ecstatic to have him.
Matt travelled the world working with leading illustrators, comic creators and publishers after receiving the Design NSW Travelling Scholarship and brings that unparalleled knowledge and experience to spoon+fork. The Creative Sydney Festival even named him "one of the most innovative contributors to Sydney culture" for his documentary graphic novel CAB, displaying true stories from his hometown. Matt's work has also been featured in The New York Times, Rolling Stone and Bloomberg Business Week. When asked about joining the spoon+fork family, he says "It's a privilege to contribute my own passion for visuals and story-telling to the talented creative team at spoon+fork. I'm excited by the potential of our combined unique experiences to complement and embolden our vision in design, illustration and identity".
Specializing in brand-focused design, the New York based studio offers packaging, corporate & brand identity, design direction, printed matter, and website design. spoon+fork has a mission of understanding the importance and impact of a "thoughtfully designed brand". With the tasteful addition of Matt to spoon+fork he will be helping enhance the designing of books, posters, and editorials. In 2012, spoon+fork won the American Graphic Design Award for event materials for the Lycée Français de New York Annual Gala and poster design for the University of Southern California Center for Japanese Religions and Culture.
