  • (1888PressRelease) September 28, 2012 - WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Masters Conference for Legal Professionals, an advanced legal educational experience, announced that Jack Halprin, Esq., Head of e-Discovery, Enterprise at Google, Inc., will deliver the keynote address over lunch at 11:30 - 12:30 on Tuesday, October 9, the second day of the annual conference. The Masters Conference takes place in Washington, D.C. on October 8-10, 2012 at the Grand Hyatt.

Halprin's topic is "The Cloud: Fear, Irrationality, and Reality." Hosted services in the cloud are fast becoming a reality in corporate America. Though a move to the cloud brings many benefits, from reduced costs to enhanced uptime, it is often hard to sift through the mountains of misinformation. During his talk, Halprin will look at the risks and benefits, and why moving to the cloud shouldn't put your discovery or governance program at risk.

As head of e-Discovery, Enterprise, at Google, Halprin ensures the legal team has the tools, technology and capabilities to meet discovery obligations. He also serves on the team working on the internal records management and information governance program. He speaks frequently on information governance, risk management and compliance at industry events and seminars and has authored numerous articles on e-Discovery, social media, the cloud and knowledge management. He is actively involved in The Sedona Conference and ACC and is a former member of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM). Prior to joining Google in 2012, Halprin served as vice president, e-Discovery and compliance, with Autonomy, where he was a legal subject matter expert and managed the product line strategy for Autonomy's e-Discovery solutions. He has also held various roles with Guidance Software, LexisNexis Applied Discovery and BAR/BRI Bar Review and was a litigation associate at Santa Monica's Haight, Brown & Bonesteel. Halprin holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Yale University, a JD from the University of California, Los Angeles and certifications from the California, Connecticut, Virginia and Patent Bars.
