Mary Chatman, Ph.D.(c), R.N., Appointed to Georgia State Board of Nursing
Georgia Governor Nathan Deal has appointed Mary B. Chatman, Ph.D.(c), R.N., senior vice president for patient care services at Memorial University Medical Center (MUMC) in Savannah, to the Georgia Board of Nursing.
- Savannah, GA (1888PressRelease) May 19, 2011 - Mary B. Chatman, Ph.D.(c), R.N., senior vice president for patient care services at Memorial University Medical Center (MUMC), has been appointed to the Georgia Board of Nursing by Governor Nathan Deal.
Chatman is responsible for all nursing and ancillary clinical departments at MUMC. She is also a member of the Savannah Technical College board and the Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools Education for ALL Foundation. Chatman earned a bachelor's and master's degree from East Carolina University. She is currently completing her doctorate at the same school. Chatman came to MUMC in 2009 to serve as chief nursing officer. She and her husband, Slade, live in Savannah and have two children.
The Georgia Board of Nursing consists of eight members appointed by the governor -- seven registered professional nurses and an eighth consumer member. The Board of Nursing is responsible for the regulation of registered professional nurses and advanced practice registered nurses: As part of their responsibilities, board members develop rules and regulations that set the standards for nursing practice and education, provide the minimum qualifications for licensure, and ensure that disciplinary process is implemented in a fashion that guarantees due process and public protection.
