Marta Alfonso to Speak at The New York State Society Of Certified Public Accountants' 2012 Anti-Fraud Conference
Marta Alfonso, CPA/CFF, CIRA, JD, will be speaking at the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants' 2012 Anti-Fraud Conference (NYSSCPA) taking place June 12, 2012 in New York.
- (1888PressRelease) June 14, 2012 - NEW YORK - Marta Alfonso, CPA/CFF, CIRA, JD, and principal in the Management Advisory Services Department at nationally recognized public accounting firm Morrison, Brown, Argiz & Farra, LLC (MBAF), will be speaking at the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants' 2012 Anti-Fraud Conference (NYSSCPA) taking place June 12, 2012 in New York. Alfonso's session, titled Professional Practice Standards and References Used in Forensic Accounting and Litigation Support Engagements, will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 2:20 p.m. She will explain how relying on professional standards can help professionals avoid mistakes in judgment, difficult cross-examination, and possible malpractice claims.
The NYSSCPA Anti-Fraud Conference is designed for financial professionals interested in developing their expertise in forensic accounting and litigation consulting; corporate and government personnel looking to better understand the legal and forensic aspects of managing risks for their organizations; and Certified Public Accountants, internal and external auditors, attorneys, corporate financial officers, controllers, and accountants. The conference will provide professionals with an opportunity to gain practical instruction on how to raise their knowledge by learning directly from guest speakers whose presentations span the lifecycle of events from investigation to testimony, and maintain the focus on professionalism, objectivity and integrity.

Since 1983, Alfonso has worked in a range of consulting and in-house corporate roles with a focus on forensic accounting, insolvency and bankruptcy, turnarounds, litigation support and financial management. In the areas of litigation support and forensic accounting, Alfonso has consulted in defense of securities and exchange fraud and bank fraud clients, and has served as a qualified expert witness in state, federal and family courts.
Alfonso holds a bachelor of business administration in accounting degree and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Miami, and a master in business administration from Florida International University. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, American Bar Association, American Bankruptcy Institute, Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists, Certified in Financial Forensics, Certified Fraud Examiners, Certified Insolvency & Restructuring Advisor, Cuban American Bar Association, The Florida Bar, Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, International Women's Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC), District Secretary, National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees, and Bankruptcy Bar Association - Southern District of Florida. She is also a licensed CPA in New York and Florida.
