About RSL
The branch of the NSW Returned and Services League (RSL) was first formed in 1917. Today it has close to 44,000 members in 383 sub branches throughout NSW.
The RSL was appointed ANZAC Memorial's Guardian and they in turn appointed a Custodian to support and administer the ceremonial services that are held at the ANZAC Memorial as part of the amendments to the Act. And for the purpose of consistency, the State council adopted the appointment of the State Secretary as the ANZAC Memorial's Custodian.
The RSL provides care, well-being, compensation and commemoration of those serving and those who have served in Australia's Defence Force and their families. They work hard to promote Community and Government awareness for the need of a progressive and stable Australia.
As an incorporated under the 1935 Act of Parliament Act 39, they envision themselves as being the respected and recognized preeminent association in the Defence Family.
