Marina Bay Sands signs MoU with the Institute of Technical Education
The collaboration paves the way for exciting learning and employment opportunities in the service industry at Singapore's newest icon.
- (1888PressRelease) August 24, 2010 - Singapore - Marina Bay Sands hotel in Singapore (http://www.marinabaysands.com/) has today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) in the areas of tourism and hospitality. This significant partnership will enhance training for both students and faculty of ITE with international standard vocational and academic programs in the service industry, providing all successful students with outstanding employment opportunities at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore's most exciting entertainment destination.
The MoU was signed by the President and Chief Executive Officer of Marina Bay Sands, Mr. Thomas Arasi and the Director and Chief Executive Officer of ITE, Mr. Bruce Poh.
The key component of the MoU includes up to six months' student work attachments in central departments such as Hotel Operations, Food and Beverage, Retail Services and event management for the Sands Expo and Convention Center, Singapore's biggest MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) facility. In addition, students will be engaged to support specific events held at Marina Bay Sands. Prior to each event, every student will undergo preparatory training program conducted jointly by ITE and Marina Bay Sands.

With the signing of the MoU with Marina Bay Sands, our students would be able to acquire greater breadth and depth of skills and knowledge, as well as authentic experiences, to enable them to embark on meaningful careers in the industry," said Mr Bruce Poh.
The five-year MoU will also include the transfer of expert knowledge through training and consultation from Marina Bay Sands Team Members for the development of niche courses at ITE, such as sommelier training.
The MoU provides a framework for further collaboration between Marina Bay Sands and ITE in other diverse areas including Hospitality, Business and Services, Engineering, Electronics, Info-Comm Technology - all the relevant skills required in the successful operation of Asia's leading destination for business, leisure and entertainmen
