The two teams made first contact at the largest convergence of transgender health professionals, WPATH Symposium in Thailand this year, of which Dr. Preecha was director.
FFS involves a combination of uniquely developed techniques in craniofacial and plastic surgery, after a meticulous diagnosis and facial analysis of each individual. Unfortunately, It is common to see patients with unsatisfactory or even disfiguring results obtained from providers who are not familiar with determining the adequate combination of techniques for an FFS patient. The risk of nerve and other irreversible tissue damage is also significantly higher when performed by inexperienced providers.
The correct protocol required to identify a defined, realistic objective and proper management of expectations is of paramount importance with FFS, because not only is each face distinct, but every patient inevitably will wish to express their gender identity in a very personal way, depending on their own circumstances.
