Maple Counseling Center to Host 43rd Annual Gala on October 25
Rick and Kathy Hilton, Sean O’Donnell and Family, Among Honorees; ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Star Michael Moloney to Serve as Event’s MC; Special Appearance by Univision’s Julio Cesar Ortiz.
- Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) September 22, 2017 - Continuing to support its mission of providing mental health treatment services to underserved members of the Los Angles community, The Maple Counseling Center (TMCC) will be holding its 43rd Annual Gala: Access for All at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills (6-9 p.m.) on October 25.
For more than 40 years, Los Angeles-based TMCC has been putting on its annual gala to raise sorely needed funds so it can provide mental health treatment to adults, children, couples and families regardless of their ability to pay.
This year’s theme, Access for All, is symbolic of the broader challenges facing the mental health industry, particularly the fact that more than 40 percent* of Los Angelinos who need treatment do not have access to affordable mental health services.
“We are very grateful for the generous donations we continue to receive at our annual gala event,” said Marcy Kaplan, CEO, Maple Counseling Center. “This year’s theme is all about finding ways to provide mental health care access to everyone, including those with low means, as well as those who feel stigmatized by society. These funds also enable the center to establish new innovative programs to reach and treat more people, while promoting the benefits of mental health care for all.”
Each year, the Maple Counseling Center honors individuals who have made a positive impact in the field of mental health. This year’s gala honorees include: Rick and Kathy Hilton, who will receive the Maple Award for Community Excellence; and Sean O’Donnell and Family, who will receive the Maple Award for Community Spirt.
Reality TV star Michael Moloney will serve as the event’s master of ceremonies. Award-winning TV reporter Julio Cesar Ortiz will provide special remarks relating to his commitment to promoting mental health throughout Los Angeles on camera, as well as his work in the Hispanic community.
Rick Hilton is chairman of Hilton & Hyland, a luxury residential brokerage firm specializing in select properties throughout Southern California. He and his wife Kathy Hilton, an American actress, fashion designer and philanthropist, are active in social and philanthropic circles in Los Angeles and New York.
Sean O’Donnell is a senior vice president with Bank of America Merrill Lynch Wealth Management. He also served as a board member of the Maple Counseling Center for ten years. O’Donnell’s civic leadership includes chairman of the board for the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce and president of the Beverly Hills Rotary Club.
Michael Moloney is a renowned interior design expert who spent nine seasons on the Emmy Award-winning TV show ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, tackling topics such as bullying and teen suicide, while continuing to focus on the global epidemics of poverty and hunger. Moloney also lends his time to many charities and is a passionate activist for anti-bullying causes.
Julio Cesar Ortiz is a reporter for Univision’s KMEX-TV in Los Angeles and currently hosts a bi-weekly mental health segment. He also holds a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from the University of Southern California, specializing in treating mental disorders for the Hispanic community because of acculturation and migration.

Founded in 1972, The Maple Counseling Center (TMCC) is a private, nonprofit community mental health center that serves the greater Los Angeles area. The Center’s mission is to provide low cost comprehensive mental health services to adults, children, couples and families, and training for interns and counselors working toward licensure in the mental health field.
