  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) July 17, 2013 - It has been almost a year since Hurricane Sandy hit New York on October 29th 2012, and still many people are feeling the effects of one of the most destructive hurricanes to hit the U.S.

One of the buildings hit hardest by the storm was, Manhattan Place Condominium located at 630 First Avenue in New York. Manhattan Place Condominium sustained more than 10 million dollars in damage and endured weeks of no electric power or heat. After several months of dealing with the City Department of Buildings, insurance companies, engineers, designers and contractors, Manhattan Place Condominium started the reconstruction of its lobby earlier this week.

The lobby reconstruction is expected to be complete within four months. The replacement and relocation of the buildings electrical equipment is expected to commence within the next few months. Greg De Jong, Resident Manager stated, "We will also be doing some flood mitigation projects which will help in protecting Manhattan Place should there be any future flooding." Mr. DeJong went on to say, "The electrical system relocation is very important. We are looking at relocating the entire system to a higher floor. If this is not possible, then we will have to install a state of the art watertight room for the equipment to keep it safe. The ensuring work will make Manhattan Place more secure and better prepared for these types of storms in the future."

Joe Carullo, a Board of Manager & Treasurer said, "It has been a long difficult road to recovery for Manhattan Place since Sandy hit on 10/29 but through it all, the residents have persevered and will be rewarded with a new state of the art lobby." MJ Pedone, Publicist & CEO of Indra Public Relations and resident unit owner of Manhattan Place Condominium said, "Our President, Adam Victor who is an engineer by training, is presiding over the entire process and will continue to lead the project until completion. Mr. Victor will make certain that the restoration of the quality of living is restored for all residents of Manhattan Place."

There will be a "Cocktails & Conversation" reception for the resident's and media on the roof deck of Manhattan Place Condominium hosted by the Board Members on Thursday, July 25 at 7:00pm. Follow us here for daily updates: https://twitter.com/630FirstAve
