The Opening Ceremony concept focused on several performance highlights:
• Tribute to GCC - A Bahrain Olympic Council-commissioned song with mass choreography by hundreds of volunteer Bahraini students

• The Grand Finale - a climactic highlight of the event that began with a dramatic lighting of the Olympic cauldron by Bahraini football star Mohammed Salmeen and runner Roqaya al-Ghassra and several groups of local children carrying their own torches. Followed by the Symphony of Fire and Drums where Bahraini drummers interacted live with choreographed fire cannons, and the grand Symphony of Fire, Light and Pyro, where the whole stadium erupted in a spectacular 5-minute choreography of the latest in fire flame technology and thousands of rounds of pyrotechnics, all programmed in a virtual interface that allowed precise timing of bursts.
These highlights unfolded on the larger than life stage and screen setup composed of an 810sqm-area wide stage and an enormous array of 4 screens with a total projection space of 336sqm.
