Malaysia Wins Social Media Contest Seven Asia Pacific Countries Battled For Supremacy
Seven teams of two battled it out in the inaugural Accor Hong Kong Es-capers scavenger hunt from 9-11 September, using their social media contacts to assist them and team Malaysia won the contest.
- (1888PressRelease) September 19, 2013 - HONG KONG - Hong Kong hosted seven teams of two tradtional or social media bloggers from Australia, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and China last week, in the inaugural Es-CapersHK Scavenger Hunt around Kowloon and Hong Kong Island.
Malaysia won the two day contest overall, judged on criteria including the number of social media posts, money left in the kitty, and the time taken to get around the checkpoints and taking the required photographs.
In second place was Indonesia
Third place was China
4th place was Australia
5th and 6th place were Thailand and Japan
Lucky last having given up to the lure to go shopping instead - was Singapore.
Also five lucky guests staying at our five hotels in Hong Kong on the night of 10th September were awarded a special invitation to a harbour cruise on Aqua Luna and a surprise prize each of 20,000 points in Accor's guest loyalty programme, Le Club AccorHotels, to express our gratitude for their support.
Using the specially designed hash-tag of #EsCapersHK they tweeted, Instagramed and Facebooked their way around Hong Kong, solving their clues and sampling all the best of the local cuisine, history and lesser known tourist attractions.
The teams also visited Accor's Hong Kong hotels, including the budget ibis Hong Kong Central and Sheung Wan, ibis North Point, Novotel Century Hong Kong, Novotel Hong Kong Nathan Road Kowloon and Novotel Citygate Hong Kong.
Sponsored by Accor Hotels, Cathay Pacific, Garuda Indonesia and the Hong Kong Tourism Board, all unanimously voted that they wanted to return to Hong Kong for longer next time and to hold the event annually.
