MakerBot(R) Offers Holiday Events - Make Your Own Ornament - and Unique 3D Printed Gifts for the Holidays
Fun holiday workshop offered at the new MakerBot Store in New York City. Learn about 3D printing and make a really cool holiday ornament.
- New York, NY (1888PressRelease) December 17, 2012 - Just in time for the upcoming holidays, the MakerBot Store in New York City is offering some fun workshops to create unique ornaments and gifts at two events this month. On Sunday, December 16th, and 23rd, from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m., the MakerBot Store will hold a "Make Your Own Ornament" Workshop. Space is limited and pre-registration is required by calling 347-457-5758. Cost is $5 per person and is payable at the MakerBot Store. In addition, the MakerBot Store offers some truly unique and inspirational gift ideas, including the incredible MakerBot® Replicator™ 2 Desktop 3D Printer, and a variety of unique 3D printed gifts.
If you haven't been to the new MakerBot Store, the first MakerBot 3D printer store in the world, the Holiday Workshops would be a great time to stop by and experience first-hand the wonder of desktop 3D printing. Just like 2-dimensional printing, 3D printing takes a file from the computer and prints it. But unlike 2-dimensional printing, 3D printing uses 3-dimensional or CAD software to create designs that can be printed in an actual 3-dimensional shape and material. MakerBot uses PLA and ABS plastic that renders beautiful, detailed items that range from machine parts and replacement parts that an engineer would create, to prototypes of products for entrepreneurs, medical devices for the medical field, jewelry and fashion items for designers, and even educational and fun items for the hobbyist, educator and home user.
"The limit to what you can make on a MakerBot® Replicator™ 2 Desktop 3D Printer is only as endless as your imagination," noted Bre Pettis, CEO and co-founder of MakerBot Industries. "We are so excited about having the MakerBot Store in New York - at the MakerBot Store you can come in, see 3D printing in person, touch it, experience it, and be amazed by its potential."
The Holiday Workshops are a great opportunity to visit the new MakerBot Store, just opened in September of this year, and have a hands-on opportunity to try 3D printing yourself, see how easy it is, and go home with a really cool MakerBot-made 3D printed holiday ornament. No design experience is necessary, as the MakerBot Store will have several available 3D holiday ornament designs to choose from. You pick the color, print and decorate, and voila, you have a really cool, unique item to showcase this holiday season or give away as a gift.
In addition to the Holiday Workshops on December 16 and 23, the MakerBot Store also offers the very popular MakerBot® Replicator™ 2 Desktop 3D Printer ($2,199) for the tech enthusiasts on your list. The MakerBot Store has a supply of 3D desktop printers available in the store for immediate pick-up.
