Mahindra Ecole Centrale (MEC) - College of Engineering, Hyderabad, organizes a campus connect session
MEC showcases its world-class facilities to Engineering Aspirants and their parents, shares information on “Careers in Engineering Today” & addressed the queries of the visitors.
- (1888PressRelease) December 08, 2015 - Mahindra École Centrale (MEC) College of Engineering, an Indo-French Technology School, based at Hyderabad, organized a campus connect session with the Engineering Aspirants and their parents. The Deans and Senior faculty of MEC were available on-site to show the visitors around and address their queries.
A short seminar on “Careers Options available in Engineering Today” was also held for the visitors. Prof. Didier Clouteau, Dean of Academics at MEC, welcomed the visitors on the campus and gave a short brief on MEC and showcased the need for an international quality technology education that assures career progression for engineering aspirants. Highlighting the key aspects of education at MEC, he said that the focus is on multi-disciplinary knowledge, personality development, and critical-creative thinking.
Prof. Hariharan Krishnan, of the School of Creative Sciences at MEC, said that Mahindra Ecole Centrale College of Engineering is a firm proponent of Industry Ready Engineer. At MEC, the Vision is to train engineers, both men and women, to be entrepreneurial and innovative as well as technically trained, so that they are capable of meeting the greatest challenges of their era, globally.
Prof. Hariharan focused on sharing how innovation will be the key in the future and therefore the focus will be on creating a well rounded professional, who will not just be a technical expert, but will be a great creator and manager. At MEC, these well rounded professionals are called the “New Engineers” — those who are equipped with not just analytical skills but those who also know how to look at a problem holistically and come up with creative workable solutions.
Prof. Vijaysekhar Chellaboina, of the School of Engineering Sciences at MEC, also addressed the parents’ and students’ queries on MEC’s USPs and benefits. He shared that at MEC, the focus is on a unique pedagogical model, which is a blend of Fundamental Sciences, Engineering Science and Social & Human Sciences. At MEC, the emphasis is on a 360-degree education. And to this effect, the pedagogy is different. MEC uses an interdisciplinary model of education that trains three dimensional engineers: high level scientific and technical generalists, experts in initiating and piloting innovative projects, and well-rounded experts with a strong international culture. The curriculum incorporates the latest in engineering based on global needs and has a strong “soft-skills” development focus. MEC’s ambition is to develop engineering graduates into leaders, entrepreneurs and innovators.
The aspirants and their parents were taken through a guided tour of the college as well, so that they could see for themselves the campus and the facilities available. The fact that MEC focuses on an integrated curriculum that ensures that the student is privy to the best practices, learns through “doing” and has the best of the industry to mentor him, was brought home by various presentations and interactions. In addition, the focus is on opening up or broadening their horizons by ensuring that they learn before they enter the classroom. The education delivery is more interaction-oriented and less discourse- oriented.
MEC shared that it has a total of 240 seats available in its B.Tech Programme - 60 each for the four courses offered - in Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering. Those students who have a 10+2 or equivalent from any statutory board with 60 percent aggregate marks in all subjects or equivalent grade for the students from IB or other approved Board are eligible to apply for the seats. The admissions will be granted on the basis of either JEE (Qualify in JEE Main examination: eligible to write the JEE Advanced 2015 exam or rank up to 1,50,000) or SATscores (minimum 1800 in subjects which should include Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry).
Parents and students were also informed that the application form for admission will be available online from mid December 2015 at www.mahindraecolecentrale.edu.in. Their queries on admissions process, faculty, resources, fees, mentoring, scholarships, training and placements were also addressed by the faculty.
