  • (1888PressRelease) July 12, 2013 - LOS ANGELES, CA - Made in the USA Foundation and Made Movement recently honored the outstanding achievements of the top companies that manufacture and/or assemble products in the United States at its annual Hall of Fame Awards Dinner. The event was attended by over 100 guests including Edward Asner, award-winning Tesla Designer Franz von Holzhausen, actress Drea de Matteo and Whitesnake member Michael Devin who attended on behalf of Carlyle Convertibles. Guests were treated to festive Maker's Mark cocktails during the silent auction. With contributions from Schramsberg, Glima, Simplicity, J.W. Hulme and many others, the silent auction helped raise funds for the non-profit organization.

"We host this awards dinner yearly to recognize and build awareness of the creativity, skill and talent of the best American manufacturers. These companies make a choice to grow their business in the U.S. which keeps many Americans employed and is what will help revive our economy," says Made in the USA Foundation Co-founder Joel D. Joseph.

Amongst the 68 nominees, 27 winners were selected. Some of the highly competitive categories include luxury cars, fuel-efficient cars, high-tech electronics, sparkling wine, health and beauty products, women's casual clothing and more. The winning companies were selected based on three criteria: quality, competiveness, and impact. The winners include: Schramsberg, Maker's Mark, Woodford Reserve, Tesla S, Ford C-Max, Precor, Wahl, Makita, Snap-on Tools, J.W. Hulme, Aeronautica Windpower, MAK Grills, Alliance Rubber Bands, Acco Brands, Corning, American Leather, Fine Art Lamps, CREE, Simplicity Vacuums, Merle Norman, Hudson Jeans, Glima, American Apparel, Chevrolet Silverado and Ram trucks.

In addition to promoting U.S. manufacturers, Made in the USA Foundation pursues litigation and legislative action to strengthen and uphold labeling laws and standards. It also encourages American values around the world, raising the bar concerning minimum wages, environmental standards, labor rights, and human rights, including eliminating child labor. Currently, the foundation is working on the Refine American-Made Project (RAMP) to create a single U.S. standard for the definition of "Made in the USA." It has also launched the Retailer Membership Program that provides signage to retail stores that offer American-made products so that customers can easily distinguish the stores.
