Luncheon to Honor, Inspire Tampa Bay Charities
Charities - they feed the hungry, house the homeless, tutor the youth and improve the environment, but who will take care of them?
- Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL (1888PressRelease) August 15, 2014 - On Wednesday, September 24th, area charities are invited to attend a luncheon at the Church of Scientology's Fort Harrison Religious Retreat. Open to 120 attendees, the event organizers plan to facilitate networking between the diverse charitable groups in the area.
The event will begin with socializing from 11:30 until 12, and lunch will be served shortly thereafter. A special key note speaker will provide inspiration and acknowledge the work done by Tampa Bay's charities.
"Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard wrote that 'A community that pulls together can make a better society for all' and we, as a community, have a unique opportunity to do that here in Pinellas County," said Pat Harney, the spokesperson for the Church of Scientology's international religious retreat in Clearwater.
"There are also people who need job skills, improved literacy and a window of hope - local charities provide that and we want to provide support for those people in the trenches," added Ms. Harney.
The Fort Harrison has provided this kind of support since construction completed in late 1926. Historical records and media stories since 1927 show a wide variety of fundraisers and charity events at the facility.
Since the Church of Scientology's top to bottom restoration and renovation of the Fort Harrison in 2009, more than 12,000 people have attended fundraising activities and community events at the historic property. These events have benefitted Nourish to Flourish (feeding chronically hungry children in Pinellas County), the Shriners' Hospital of Tampa, Ruth Eckerd Hall, the Clearwater Free Clinic, the Make a Wish Foundation, the Clearwater Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, the Sunscreen Festival and more.
The event is open to any executive from a non-profit or any board members from a non-profit. There is no cost to attend.
If you are interested in receiving an invitation to the event, please contact Pat Harney or Lisa Mansell at 727-467-6860.
