Luncheon To Feature Acclaimed Author & Speaker
Acclaimed author Sherokee Ilse to speak at Still Parent Luncheon.
- Albany-Schenectady-Troy, NY (1888PressRelease) June 01, 2011 - On Sunday, June 5, 2011, ANA will host its annual Still Parents, Still Family Luncheon at Longfellow's Restaurant in Saratoga Springs. The event will feature internationally acclaimed author and speaker Sherokee Ilse, who has appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show and has spoken about pregnancy loss and infant death across the U.S. and internationally.
The luncheon, held between Mother's Day and Father's Day, acknowledges the parenthood of those who have lost children. Sherokee will discuss ways to create new traditions that honor all family members, and how to support bereaved families.
"Infant death affects the entire family," noted ANA Board member Michelle Deyette, whose nephew, JJ, was stillborn. "JJ's brothers have always included them in their games. They realize that he will always be their brother."
"We can learn a lot from children," added ANA cofounder Michelle Mosca. "They seem to realize that we move forward by remembering, not by trying to forget."
Sherokee's most popular book, "Empty Cradle, Empty Arms," has more than 300,000 copies in print, and she has just published another, "Couple Communication After a Baby Dies." A book signing will follow the luncheon.
Longfellow's owner, Steven Sullivan, has generously donated the space and will be opening the restaurant early in the day exclusively for this event.
Tickets are available for a minimum donation of $30 per adult and $15 per child. Ticket price includes the presentation by Sherokee Ilse and choice of entrée, potato and vegetable, drinks (alcohol-free), dessert, coffee or tea, and gratuity.
