Lucky You Films will release it's Award-Winning Feature Film, The Last Passport, on DVD on Thanksgiving Day.
- (1888PressRelease) November 16, 2010 - Charlotte, NC - Lucky You Films, a Charlotte-based film production company, is releasing it's first feature film on Thursday, November 25, 2010 via its website, www.thelastpassport.com. The DVD of the 2009 Solstice Film Festival winner for Best Actor and Best Director can be purchased online for the sale price of $15.00 on Thanksgiving Day.
The film stars Jimmy Hagar (Cold Soldiers, 27 Club, and The List), Stephan Monteserin (Esposito, Perfecto), Bonnie Johnson (Little Red Wagon, The 5th Quarter, The Trial), Dave Blamy (A Box for Rob, The 5th Quarter, Pendulum Swings), Chris Crutchfield (Esposito, Unemployment, Blood Done Sign My Name), Ken Foxx (April Fools Day, Without Hope), Rachel St. Gelais (The Blind Side, Little Red Wagon, Blood Done Sign My Name) and Candace Williamson.
Co-directed by Kent Smith and David Temple (Poke the Sleeping Bear) and co-written by both directors along with Alex Bailey, The Last Passport (Hagar) is set in what appears to be an ordinary passport office. While 70 year-old George Miller waits, he passes the time by engaging other visitors. Each person tells the mysterious old man the tale of their individual journey covering from whence they came and ending where they want to be. During the course of a single day, George challenges a number of people ranging from an arrogant doctor to a gun-toting thug. Despite the surface differences between age, sex, race, social status, or mental stability, these coincidental encounters become walking reflections of George and mirror his own memories and life journey.
The world premiere of The Last Passport was held last winter at The Epicentre in Charlotte, NC, and drew a sold-out audience. Proceeds from the ticket sales to the event went to benefit Goodwill of the Southern Piedmont of North Carolina. In 2009, the film was selected for the Solstice Film Festival in Minnesota where it won the awards for Best Actor and Best Director. "Everything went right and everything we needed to make this film appeared," says Kent Smith, owner of Lucky You Films and director, writer, and producer of The Last Passport. "It became obvious that we had created something bigger than any of us could have ever imagined."
" 'It's never been done before' is the driving spirit that got this film made in the first place." The Last Passport is a full feature length film that was made from start to finish in just 30 days with a mere $5,000.00 shooting budget. Everything from writing, pre-production, principal photography, editing, and post-production was all done in one month's time. "Lucky You Films is all about being original in everything we do, right down to how we distribute The Last Passport onto DVD. To see what I mean, visit the movie's website and order your copy of this inspirational movie and see what all the fuss is about."
