  • Indianapolis, IN (1888PressRelease) December 10, 2010 - Announced at Wheaton's 56th Annual Partnership Conference, Nov. 11, 2010, the Lowy family - of Lowy's Moving Service, an Interstate Agent for Wheaton World Wide Moving - was awarded Wheaton's Extra Mile Award.

The Extra Mile Awards was introduced in 2000 to acknowledge an agent, driver or corporate employee who performs the extraordinary every day. Award winner's attributes include positive attitude, unselfish contributions to the Wheaton System and adherence to Wheaton's mission and values: Treat everyone honestly, fairly and professionally.

Lowy's Moving Service, a family business founded more than 80 years ago, was instrumental in creating Move for Hunger in 2009, a non profit organization dedicated to collecting customers' unwanted food and delivering it to local food banks. Lowys soon welcomed Wheaton World Wide Moving as a founding partner in Move for Hunger and Wheaton opened up the program to its agent network.

In July, Move for Hunger received a $30,000 grant from J.P. Morgan Chase as the organization's nationwide campaign continues to gain momentum. The Lowys were awarded the Extra Mile Award for their dedicated service to those in need.

"Nothing like this has ever been done in the moving industry and it's fitting that the pioneer is a longstanding interstate agent for Wheaton World Wide Moving," said Wheaton CEO Mark Kirschner. "What the Lowys have created in Move for Hunger not only helps needy families around the country, it makes Wheaton a more enlightened company with better perspective. We're proud of the partnership."
