Lowcountry Local First Kicks Off Buy Local Month At Member Meeting
The LLF member meeting on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Charleston Children's Boutique, 92 Folly Road, in South Windermere Plaza.
- Charleston-North Charleston, SC (1888PressRelease) November 10, 2010 - Jamee Haley, Executive Director of Lowcountry Local First (LLF) announced today that the non-profit organization is kicking off Buy Local Month (Nov. 15-Dec. 15) and the Buy Local Card at the LLF member meeting on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Charleston Children's Boutique, 92 Folly Road, in South Windermere Plaza. The meeting is open to all members featuring live entertainment, food, raffle prizes, Buy Local Cards for purchase, new LLF directories and posters to promote Buy Local Month. Momentum Marketing will roll out the promotional campaign to the members as well.
LLF is also launching a Membership Drive at the meeting, which will bring in thousands of dollars of prizes for the members who bring in new members. Each member that refers a new business to joining LLF will get their name entered twice in a raffle. Also, new members/businesses will get their name entered in the raffle once and will receive membership for $100 during Buy Local Month. The 'Buy Local Card' will also be introduced at the LLF meeting and will be offered for sale for $20 at LLF member locations throughout the Charleston tri-county area. The card is sponsored by CPM Credit Union and proceeds benefit LLF buy local education initiatives. Haley said, "This year, our committee expanded Buy Local Week to a month long campaign during the holiday season. With the help of Momentum Marketing, we've organized a massive effort to spread the word this year and our member meeting is our big kickoff event! We've got a full night planned with live entertainment and info on all the Buy Local Month happenings, so we expect a big turnout!"
'Buy Local Month' is set for November 15th - December 15th with a series of events and promotions planned to build consumer awareness. Print ads, articles and a television PSA featuring City of Charleston Mayor, Joseph P. Riley, Jr., College of Charleston Head Basketball Coach, Bobby Cremins, North Charleston Mayor, Keith Summey and many others have been created to draw attention to the initiative. Blogs, Facebook and Twitter posts will feature ongoing events and highlight member businesses throughout the month. Holiday parades on King Street, in Mount Pleasant and Summerville will feature a Buy Local float. A membership drive and a green balloon sale will take place throughout the 30 days. Additional organized events will be held throughout Mt. Pleasant, Charleston, Summerville, North Charleston and West Ashley.
