Long Island Museum Curator Joshua Ruff to Deliver 15th Annual Fall Art Lecture at Adelphi
Adelphi University is pleased to host Long Island Museum Curator Joshua Ruff to deliver the Friends of the Library 15th annual fall lecture.
- New York, NY (1888PressRelease) October 21, 2010 - Adelphi University is pleased to host Joshua Ruff, Curator at the Long Island Museum, who will speak on "The Long Island Museum's Carriage Collection: A National Treasure in Your Backyard." The event will take place on Sunday, November 7, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. in the Ruth S. Harley University Center's Thomas Dixon Lovely Ballroom, 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY. The event, sponsored by the Friends of the Adelphi University Library, is free and open to the public.
In addition to his position as curator at the Long Island Museum, Joshua Ruff serves as senior lecturer at St. Joseph's College and associate editor of the Long Island History Journal.
Mr. Ruff will speak on the Long Island Museum's unique collection of the Carriage Museum. The Long Island Museum, an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, is located in Stony Brook, the largest privately supported museum on Long Island. The Carriage Museum houses an authentic carriage making shop as well as two new galleries, A Gentleman's Coach House and the European Vehicles Gallery, which were introduced in 2010. The collection comprises of nearly 200 historic carriages, from which Mr. Ruff will feature highlights in his lecture.
This will be the 15th Annual Fall Art Lecture sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Following the lecture, there will be a drawing for family passes to the museum as well as drawings for the Friends' annual raffles of gifts and restaurant meals.
