  • Orange County, CA (1888PressRelease) November 11, 2015 - 160 homeless men and women are in for a treat when Dine LBC restaurants take over the Long Beach Rescue Mission (1335 Pacific Avenue) to prepare an elaborate lunch in their honor. The community event will be held in conjunction with National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week on Monday, November 16, with 2 seatings at 11 a.m. and noon, announced Dine LBC - Long Beach Restaurant Week founder Terri Henry.

Chefs from some of Long Beach's most popular restaurants including The Sky Room, The Attic, Panxa, Red Leprechaun and Simmzy's will prepare the 5-course meal.

"In anticipation of the upcoming Dine LBC - Long Beach Restaurant Week, where the public have an opportunity to try out restaurants they may have heard about but have never experienced, we realize that there are many among us who never get the chance to dine out," said Henry, who said that participating restaurants offer special value-oriented menus April 23 - May 1, 2016 to attract the public. "We are grateful to our contributing restaurants -- The Sky Room, The Attic, Panxa, Red Leprechaun and Simmzy's for their generosity and compassion for some of our community's most vulnerable."

"Helping others and maintaining a strong sense of community was something I was taught from a young age. It is a big part of my culture and heritage to acknowledge that we all have one world and it is up to us to make it as good as we can," added Jonathan Rosenson, proprietor & sommelier at The Sky Room.

Since 1972, Long Beach Rescue Mission has served the needs of the hungry and homeless in the greater Long Beach area. In addition to providing food and shelter, the Long Beach Rescue Mission offers rehabilitation programs, spiritually based counseling, education and job skills classes as well as transitional housing.

Dine LBC - Long Beach Restaurant Week is an annual event where dozens of local restaurants in nearly every community of the city will offer value-oriented, 3-course meals set at one of four price points: $20, $30, $40 or $50. In addition to attracting Southern California "foodies," Dine LBC opens the doors for those who view dining out as a luxury to explore local culinary destinations.
