Local Student Wins National Scholarship

Charleston-North Charleston, SC (1888PressRelease) September 24, 2010 - Anita King, President of CREW Charleston and Owner/Lead Architect of Ink Architecture, announced today that local College of Charleston student, Alexandra Rogers, has been awarded with the 2011 National CREW Network Scholarship. She is one of only eight recipients in the nation that will receive the scholarship. Typically CREW awards ten scholarships annually but decided to reduce it to eight due to the high quality of candidates.

Rogers, originally from Glen Allen, Virginia, is currently a senior at the College of Charleston, majoring in Business Administration. Rogers says that with the CREW scholarship, she is now able to attend another semester of college and is adding another focus to her degree. The scholarship also provides Rogers with many opportunities to participate in CREW events and luncheons.

King said, "The CREW Network Scholarships are awarded to the most deserving students. Alexandra is the perfect candidate for the scholarship because of her background and her future career goals. I know from personal experience how important it is to get involved in the real estate business and to make a name for yourself, so I am thrilled that we can provide assistance for Alexandra and her education."

Launched in 2008, the CREW Network Scholarship Program typically awards up to ten $10,000 grants annually to women pursuing an education that will lead to a career in commercial real estate. Additionally, the program provides each scholarship recipient with a brokerage internship to encourage women to consider this career choice as well as the opportunity to participate in CREW Network's eMentoring program designed to support their career success.

CREW Charleston is an organization geared towards connecting women in the commercial real estate business, including realtors, brokers, attorneys, lenders, developers, appraisers, accountants, property managers, engineers, architects, contractors, interior designers and other related professions.
