Orange County, CA (1888PressRelease) March 08, 2012 - With gas prices reaching the highest amount since 2008, local Realtors® are helping out Southern California underwater home owners and buyers by giving them pre-paid Visa cards for as much as $4,000 when they buy or list and sell their properties with them within one year of applying for a cash rebate.

According to the Los Angeles Times, gas prices in the state have soared above the national average for more than a year. Nowadays, a gallon is 10 percent more expensive than the $3.35 it cost this time last year, reported the AAA Fuel Gauge Report.

Fears of shortages because of tensions in the Middle East along with the reduction of supply due to the closing of several refineries in California and Washington are the reasons experts attribute to the increasing prices.

With Orange County now averaging around $4.36 a gallon, Homes of California is offering a year's worth of free gas. Furthermore, a recent poll conducted by Core Logic, a Denver based provider of information, analytics and business services, reported that near-negative equity borrowers in California equaled 27.8 percent of all residential properties. These underwater home owners are prone to short sale their homes, thus walking away with nothing out of said transaction.
