Ventura, CA (1888PressRelease) December 11, 2021 - Local PODS Moving and Storage will once again support Food Share Ventura County’s CAN-tree event December 9-12 at Figueroa Plaza - Downtown Ventura. This year marks a special 10-year anniversary celebration.

“We’re proud to partner with Food Share for this annual event to help stock the food bank shelves with the extra canned food donations needed to help families through the holidays,” said Steve Yapp, owner of local PODS Moving and Storage. “Food Share helps thousands of food insecure families every holiday season, and we consider it an honor to be able to support their cause.”

PODS local have been supporting Food Share CAN-tree event programs since its origination in 2011. Each year, the community gathers to build a “forest” of can trees built from donated food that will soon be distributed to families for the holidays.

“Food Share is excited to celebrate 10 years of our CAN-tree event. Steve Yapp and our local PODS Moving and Storage have supported this event since year one,” said Jennifer Caldwell, Chief Development Officer of Food Share Ventura County. “We are so grateful for PODS support from the very beginning, providing canned food donations, PODS containers for food collection, as well as providing a furnished VIP container on site for our event. This year, we are doing something special for PODS. Be sure to look out for our special "Founder's Row" this year at our 10th Annual CAN-tree event at Figueroa Plaza.”

Year one started with 45 community trees and one large “Marquee Tree” designed and built by ACE Charter High School. This year, nearly 200 community trees and FOUR “Marquee Trees” with over 120 participating businesses and organizations will fill the event. Since the start of the CAN-tree, this event alone has provided the means to collect and distribute nearly 2 million pounds of food. Enough to supply over 1.6 million meals right here in Ventura County.
