Local Non-Profits Come Together For S.Florida Wildlife
Various non-profits in Miami-Dade, Florida are working together to share support and resources to better the lives of injured wildlife.
- Miami, FL (1888PressRelease) October 15, 2016 - Three different south Florida non-profits joined forces and have arranged for a "Planting Day" on November 6, 2016 - a day for these diverse non-profits of our community to share resources and support for the betterment of our fragile south Florida wildlife.
The Pelican Harbor Seabird Station (PHSS) recues and rehabilitates injured birds and PHSS goes out of its way to make their patients feel comfortable, safe, and mentally stimulated. The Captive Animal Research & Enrichment (C.A.R.E.) Society, a local non-profit founded by Shobha Lizaso, a Miami business attorney, performed behavioral research studies at PHSS and offered to further PHSS's efforts by seeking donations of sea grape plants for the resident pelican patients to nest in. Then, Southern Blossoms (www.SouthernBlossoms.com), a local luxury landscape design company that has been servicing Miami since 1989, answered the C.A.R.E Society's request and offered to donate all the sea grape plants that PHSS could use to enrich the wild bird enclosures. The UF IFAS Miami Dade Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program offered to supply volunteers to plant the sea grape trees.
The Pelican Harbor Seabird Station is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of sick, injured or orphaned brown pelicans, seabirds and other native wildlife. For more information: www.PelicanHarbor.org.
