- (1888PressRelease) November 08, 2019 - Six Boston-area musicians have donated their time and talents to a project called Musicians for Democracy (www.musiciansfordemocracy.com).
They recorded two songs – Lies, Lies, Lies and You Can't Fool Me – that call out President Trump for his assault on democracy, a free press, immigrants and the environment (among
his many other transgressions). Record hosts across the country are reporting an unprecedented number of protest music.
The songs have been aired on radio stations in six states.
Singer-songwriter Howie Newman organized Musicians for Democracy in May 2019 with the goals of 1) raising awareness of the threat to our freedom and democratic principles, and 2)
supporting candidates who uphold traditional democratic ideals.
All proceeds from sales and broadcast royalties will be donated to candidates who are committed to supporting and maintaining democracy. Newman is encouraging people to post this information on their Facebook pages.
The songs will be marketed on-line through digital outlets, such as iTunes, Amazon, Apple Music, Spotify and CDBaby.
Tracks can also be purchased directly from the Musicians for Democracy website (www.musiciansfordemocracy.com). On this page, you can also listen to the tracks and view the lyrics.
Physical CDs will also be available at Newman’s concerts (see www.howienewman.com for the schedule).
