- Kansas City, MO-KS (1888PressRelease) July 29, 2010 - Michelle Wood and Sheila Ringeisen are the founders of BeautyBudget, LLC which provides the BeautyBudget Card. What is this card and how does it work? Michelle explains the concept by describing how she came up with the idea:
"Wanting to reduce lines and wrinkles, I received my very first Botox treatment for $240.00. The medical spa said that Botox would last about 4-6 months and then I'd have to come back for another treatment if I liked the results and wanted to continue to be wrinkle free. After 5 months it was time to go back but I was struggling to justify the expense. I really loved how great I looked but another $240.00 was a lot of money to spend just to be wrinkle free. Being an accountant by trade, I realized that it was really only $48.00 per month. That's less than a lot of us spend each month on nails, hair, or even Starbucks! Now, if only I had just put back that $48.00 each month, I'd have the $240.00 in hand ready to spend. I had to figure out a way to pay for this so I asked my medical spa if they had any type of program to allow customers to pre-pay for services. The spa owner stated that other clients had requested to pay monthly but the only option she had was financing the procedure which I definitely didn't want to do. We talked about creating a program specific to her spa but then decided it would be too much for a spa or salon owner to manage on top of their other responsibilities. We realized that there needed to be a company that provided a service to automatically draft "pre-payments" for clients. Had I been using this type of service, my visit would have already been paid for and I would have scheduled my appointment. This idea then evolved into a universal card that could be used to at any participating salon, spa or esthetic treatment provider. By budgeting my spa and salon expenses, I would always have the extra money I needed to look and feel beautiful.
One question that came up was, "Why don't you just open a savings account and save yourself?" Sure! Great idea in theory but too easy to dip into when I decide that I really shouldn't be spending it on myself. Also, I'm terrible about setting money aside for anything, especially me! After a lot of research regarding payment systems and consumer spending, I found I was not alone and that the average consumer is more likely to engage in a managed pre-payment plan than to self budget. Currently, there are payment options for items such as gas, phone calls, etc. but not for image and beauty purchases. BeautyBudget is the first of its kind."
Even in a slow economy, we no longer have to do without the pampering we love and the treatments we want if we simply plan ahead. The smartest way to pay for beauty treatments and procedures is to save ahead and pay in full at the time of service. It's very easy to do. Just make a list of all of the beauty and cosmetic treatments you receive and divide that by twelve months. As with any other automatic payment, before long you will have adjusted your budget for the expense and be on your way to your next appointment with payment in hand.
Consumers may sign up to become BeautyBudget cardholders at www.beautybudgetcard.com and will have access to information about the salons, spas and cosmetic treatment providers participating in the program.
The BeautyBudget card is not a credit or gift card - it is a budgeting tool controlled by the cardholder with no hidden fees or spending limits. The cardholder is in complete control of determining their monthly balance and how, when and where their accumulated funds are used.
