Local Groups Promote Community Radio To Ann Arbor and Detroit Youth
Ann Arbor and Detroit non profits join forces to provide media training for youth.
- Ann Arbor, MI (1888PressRelease) August 29, 2016 - Ann Arbor Community Radio and Radio Free Detroit have partnered to jointly deliver Broadcast Boot Camp, an educational enrichment program for Ann Arbor and Detroit area youth. Broadcast Boot Camp will be presented as a 4 week interactive learning experience. This program is developed to introduce area students to the fundamentals of radio broadcasting including news writing, interviewing skills and audio editing. Broadcast Boot Camp will adapt a unique curriculum specifically developed for students by the Radio Television News Directors Foundation and Youthradio.org. At the end of the program, students will have produced a demo recording of a radio show consisting of music, an interview and a Public Service Announcement highlighting a local non-profit. The pilot program with Arrowwood Community Center in Ann Arbor will begin September 14. The program is led by media professionals Brian Scott and David Pittman, who together provide more than 40 years of broadcasting experience.

Ann Arbor Community Radio is a program of the Make This World Foundation. We are devoted to using media and technology to promote the programs and missions of non profits in education, environment and the arts. The foundation holds a construction permit to build a fully operational 100W FM radio station serving Ann Arbor. The station's official call sign is WEGV and will transmit from the frequency at 102.3 FM.
It is our goal that the new station will serve as both a resource for residents and a learning outlet for local students interested in pursuing media careers. Make This World is a recognized public charity under section 501(c)3 of the United States Internal Revenue Code.
